Mittens Animal Care is led by certified dog trainer Stephanie Bench. Alongside her is Floki, her long-haired German Shepherd and daily training partner. Together, they bring a calm, thoughtful approach built on experience, trust, and respect for every dog.
OUR STORY
How Mittens Came to Be
Mittens began in 2016 with dog walks and training across the Lakeshore area. As more families looked for calmer, more structured care, the vision grew beyond one-on-one services.
In 2024, Stephanie and her husband, Myles, purchased a 15-acre former Christmas tree farm in Nunica, Michigan. The property features wooded trails, open fields, and Black Creek running through it. This space allowed Mittens to grow into an outdoor-focused dog daycare and begin preparing for dog boarding in the near future.

A big day means trail walks, outdoor play, room to roam, and time to simply be a dog.
We use nature, movement, and small pack structure to create balanced days that leave dogs fulfilled, relaxed, and tired in the best way.
